Born in 1993 in Vanadzor, Armenia, Narine Gyozalyan is a young and prolific contemporary artist who has had a life-long relationship with art.

Nestled within the loving encouragement of a family that allowed her to evolve from a creative adolescent who explored musings at home, while developing steadily into an adventurous artist filled with passionate abandonment, she has lived a life of deep focus, embarking on personal journeys that provided room for her unlimited imagination and ideas to come to life.

Highly inspired by masters of surrealism and impressionism, Narine seeks to create a world of myth and fantasy without boundaries in her artistic endeavours. Intent on experimenting with different mediums, themes and genres, she dauntlessly combines opposing textures through the use of water colours and oils, while boldly layering inks with charcoal, at the same time taking creative liberty to interspace elements of collage, printmaking and sculptures to form part of her creative landscapes.

The series “Memory” was inspired by English artist John Stezaker’s series titled “Masks” which combined juxtapositions of disparate sources, creating new images and relationships through the use of stylistic characters and forms.

As a recent graduate from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts with a specialization in Western Painting, it is without a doubt that Narine’s fascination for the creative process as well as her profound relationship with objects, people
