Production Q and SPRMRKT are proud to present the inaugural launch of: The City Book— Singapore
Containing a series of unique stories told from the perspectives of contemporary local artists, each of them brings us on a personal journey of life in Singapore, with stories that reflect the diverse perspectives of culture, exploring themes including urban isolation, nostalgia, nature, and life in transitory spaces. These stories are supplemented by art to reflect their unique relationships with different elements of the city.
Curated and created by the founder of Production Q, Queenie Rosita Law, The City Book— Singapore combines both art and adventure. Each narrative, each anecdote and each work of art reveals a facet of the city’s character and identity, weaving together the rich tapestry that is Singapore’s culture.
Bound in luxurious hardcover, these stories are connected to their actual locations through an illustrated map, allowing a dialogue to emerge between the reader and the artist as the reader navigates the city’s stories through the book.

Daily’s latest one-piece art exhibition is a little out of the ordinary. The original hand-drawn map by Danielle Tay was commissioned for The City Book—Singapore. Curated and created by Production Q, each book also comes with a detachable version of the map.
The opening reception and book launch was held on 13 January at SPRMRKT Daily. 9 artists (including Danielle) have their works featured in the book, namely Genevieve Chua, Hilmi Johandi, Tang Ling Nah, Shubigi Rao, Sarah Choo Jing, Charles Lim, Dawn Ng & Robert Zhao Renhui. Some of them were present at the launch to chat with guests and autograph books!
Founder of Production Q, Queenie Rosita Law (right), was also in attendance. The City Book—Singapore follows the success of the original The City Book—Hong Kong that she created in 2015. There were also a few exclusive copies of the latter available during the reception.
Framed in an acrylic box, the illustrated map connects the artists’ stories to their actual locations, allowing a dialogue to emerge between the reader and the artist as the reader navigates the city’s stories through the book.
As the stories are told from the perspectives of contemporary local artists, it is unlike any tourist-oriented travel guide. Each of them brings us on a personal journey of life in Singapore, with stories that reflect the diverse perspectives of culture, exploring themes including urban isolation, nostalgia, nature, and life in transitory spaces. These stories are then supplemented by their art to reflect their unique relationships with different elements of the city.
The book combines both art and adventure with each narrative, each anecdote and each work of art revealing a facet of the city’s character and identity, weaving together the rich tapestry that is Singapore’s culture.
